A Will Smith kind of a film—that’s what you can expect from a combo that is all set to come together for Ajith’s 50th film…
The Ji association has finally paid off for the Saroja director! It is now official that Venkat Prabhu will be directing Ajith’s 50th film, which has generated a lot of interest in Kollywood. While the director is busy finalizing the script of his upcoming film Goa, the Ultimate Star is already working to get his look right for his 49th venture that will be directed by Gautham Menon.
Speaking exclusively to CT,the actor confirmed that his 50th film would be directed by Venkat Prabhu. “I’m thrilled that he will be directing a film that will mean a lot to me,” says Ajith, whose Aegan hit the screens this Deepavali. “Venkat has already told me a one-line thread of thought and I liked it a lot. He will be finalizing the script and the producer will soon be decided.”
The film will be an action-comedy, but the requirement of the actor’s fans will be kept in mind for the script. Confirming the news, the director said “It will be a Will Smith kind of a film and have all the elements that have been part of my two films. Ajith has treated me like a brother and he was pleasantly surprised that I could direct when I shot Chennai 28!” Venkat is riding on a success wave, with consecutive hits in Chennai 28 and Saroja. Will this film, post Goa, be an urban film? “Not at all,” he smiles, “Some people describe me as a ‘city director’ but this film will prove them wrong as it will have elements that all audiences will enjoy.” But the real challenge for him will probably emerge in this film as it pairs him with a big star. While the director has enjoyed success, making films with youngsters, we will have to wait and watch if his association with a star will work wonders at the box-office.Source: Published in Times Of India paper dated Nov 01, 2008
